The Gate DIFC-INDEX Tower - Dubai, UAE

The building is clad in a custom designed unitized cladding system which incorporates large panels of Italian granite and performance glazing. The gate is the first building to be completed in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The Gate is surrounded by four low-rise buildings.
The tower rests on a 28m podium which accommodates the recreational facilities at deck level including two swimming pools and health clubs, individually dedicated for the serviced apartments tenants and the other for office space tenants. The serviced apartments are accommodated on 15 typical floors and comprise of mix of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments.
Right in our backyard, finally, another building using ICD's products wins a green award. Winner of the USGlass Magazine Green Design Awards; this beautiful building is full of green design.

I then ask you, why do we not care how green or healthy the manufacturing of that product was? That No VOC coating might have been nasty to make and not only the process could harm the environment but could be putting the workers who made it in danger. But since there wasn’t a provision for ensuring that part of the process was Green, we will never know.
