OPACI-COAT-300® Coated Glass Fallout Resistance – ICD High Performance Coatings + Chemistries

This video shows ICD High Performance Coatings + Chemistries flagship glass coating product OPACI-COAT-300® applied at 13 mil Wet Film Thickness (WFT) onto 6mm tempered glass, showing both a pierced scenario, and a ball drop scenario. Notice how this water-based silicone opacifier holds the glass together in both examples, proof of fallout resistance.


Here is the series of samples tested:

  1. The 6mm tempered glass is pierced and fractures into a typical small-piece break pattern. The OPACI-COAT-300® holds the glass pieces together naturally because of its elastomeric silicone, rubber-like coating properties.
  2. 1.18# pound steel ball dropped from 11.5' feet. Note: Uncoated clear tempered glass breaks at about 4' feet. Not only does the silicone opacifier hold the glass together, but adds strength too!
